Speech by Hon'ble President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at a Function to Release Commemorative Postage Stamp on Late Shri S.b. Chavan
I am deeply honoured to release the commemorative postage stamp on the late Shri Shankarraoji Chavan. I had the privilege of working in the Council of Ministers of Shankarrao Chavanji and today I have the great opportunity of releasing a postage stamp in my office on such a big personality. He was a person of great integrity, who dedicated his life to serving the nation. He took part in the freedom movement by joining the "Quit Court" movement. There were others with him prominent among them being Narasimharaoji and Virendra Patilji.
It gives me great pleasure to be in Puducherry an important centre of national political awakening and of our intellectual and philosophical thought.
My dear Governors and Lt. Governors:
It is indeed a pleasant occasion for me to be present at the Prabasi Odia Conclave, 2017 organized by the Odisha Forum and the Government of Odisha. It is a commendable initiative, admirable in its scope and professed objectives.
1. It is indeed a pleasure for me to be present amongst you on the occasion of the valedictory session of the Pravasi Bhartiya Sammelan. On this historic day 102 years ago, the greatest Pravasi Bhartiya of all times Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa.
