Members of the Women Empowerment Centres (WEC) and Adult Literacy Centres of (ALC) of Eastern Ladakh called-on the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on August 24, 2009. The group of 27 women from the remote villages of Eastern Ladakh are currently on an excursion tour organised by the Indian Army under the aegis of Operation Sadbhavana. During their two week visit they would be visiting Manali, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Panipat besides New Delhi. The President besides enquiring about their activites also said that the visit should give them a good exposure to the wide diversity of India.
