Students from Mendhar Tehsil of Poonch District in Jammu and Kashmir called on the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on September 17, 2009. The children are currently on a tour to Ajmer, Agra, Jaipur and New Delhi under the Indian Army's Operation Sadbhavana. The educational tour enables the children hailing from a remote area of Jammu and Kashmir to get an insight into the cultural diversity and ethos of India. The President emphasised to the children that they are an important part of India. She also urged them to study well so that they could contribute to national development and also get the benefits of development.
