About 35 youth who are currently in India, to participate in the 12th Know India Programme for Diaspora Youth called-on the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 13, 2009. Welcoming them the President said she was sure that during their visit to India, they would have had an opportunity to reconnect with the land of their forefathers. The President added that while visiting the states of Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh they must have observed the unity in diversity that is the hallmark of India. She said the achievements of India both in the past and at present should make the youth of the diaspora proud. The participants were from diverse professional backgrounds from South Africa, Fiji, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, Israel, Suriname, Malaysia, France, Australia and Guyana.
