The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil released a set of four Commemorative Postage Stamps on the "Textiles of India' at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on December 10, 2009. The set of stamps depict the Banaras Brocade, Kanchipuram Silk, Kalamkari and Apa Tani weaves. Also present at the function were the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Shri A. Raja, the Minister of Textiles, Shri Dayanidhi Maran, the Minister of State for Textiles, Smt. Panabaka Lakshmi and the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri D. Napoleon.
