The Probationary Officers of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) 2008 Batch called-on the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on August 8, 2009. The President said she was happy to meet the Officers of a multi-disciplinary cadre consisting of officers with engineerings and technological backgrounds. She felt this made the IOFS uniquely placed to deliver technical results that would be supported by effective management techninques. The President also said defence production was closely linked with national security. Therefore, projects should be conceived and executed in a timely fashion. Finally, the President urged the Officers to ensure that our indigenous Research and Development capabilities are of international standards.
