The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil received a Pankha from the members of the Anjuman Sair-e-Gul Faroshan at Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 7, 2009 before this year's Phool Walon Ki Sair. This festival of communal amity traces its start to the 19th Century and is celebrated simultaneously at the Dargah of Khwaja Bakhtiyar Kaki and also at the Jog Maya Shrine on the outskirts of Delhi. The President commended the members for keeping alive this festival which represents a very important message for society.
