The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil received a delegation of Chairpersons and Member Secretaries of State Women's Commissions at Rashtrapati Bhavan on July 6, 2010. Speaking to the members of the delegation, the President said that with the passage of time responsibilities of Women's Commissions are increasing. The President also urged the delegation to continue its work against social evils such as domestic violence, female foeticide and child marriage. The President also said that women should not only be educated, but should also be financially empowered as well as be confident. Concluding her interaction with the members, the President felt that Women's Commissions should be agents of social change.
