A group of 35 children from Ganderbal District of Jammu and Kashmir called-on the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 6, 2010. The children were in New Delhi as part of the India Army's Operation Sadbhavana, during groups of students are taken around the country. Speaking to the children, the President said it was her dream that they would grow-up to do well in life. The President commended the Army for its constructive work in the state, an example of which was providing of schooling to children from the district. The President said India is a large nation with an ancient civilizational heritage. She urged the students to spread the message of national unity and respect for all religions. She also spoke to the children about India's economic progress.
