The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil visited Sabarmati Ashram on October 1, 2009 on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti.
While going around the Ashram, the President visited Vinoba Kutir, Mira Kutir and Hridaykunj. The President was also presented a Charkha and samples of fine yarn spun by Smt. Kamalamma Garu in 1924. The President after receiving these items presented them to the Ashram for preservation and display.
