The President Launches Process of Decennial Census and Preparation of National Population Register
The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil launched the process of enumeration in the Decennial Census and the preparation of the first ever National Population Register on April 1, 2010 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Minister of Home Affairs, Shri P. Chidambaram was also present. The preparation of the first ever National Population Register is one of the biggest processes of its kind attempted anywhere in the world so far.
